Dear All,

Next week I am traveling down to DC. I will be teaming up with Dr. William Hirzy (who has worked for the US EPA for many years and is Vice-President of the Union which represents professional employees at the EPA HQ in DC) in an effort to get some help on two fronts. We will be trying to meet with reps of some key environmental groups as well as Members of Congress.

For this we need some help.

We are looking for key contacts in major environmental (or other nationally based) groups with whom we might meet.
Members of Congress are far more willing to make appointments with their constituents than complete strangers from other districts or states. If you are willing to help, would you phone your US Senator of US representative to see if they would have an aide meet with one or both of us. The capitol switchboard number is 202-224-3121. It is very simple, just give them the name of your Senator or Rep. and they will connect you. You should then ask to speak with the person who deals with environmental or health issues.

The purpose of the meeting is to help put some pressure on the US EPA water division to expedite their determination of a new MCLG (maximum contaminant level goal) for fluoride as recommended by the National Research Council on March 22, 2006. So far, after over a year, they have done nothing! We would like to have this meeting to explain how serious this matter is and how important it is for the EPA to do their job on this matter.

The aide will probably want to know your connection with me or Dr. Hirzy. If you have met either of us that is easy. If you have heard us talk that would be good. If you know us only through these bulletins or the web page that is OK too. Just stress that as their constituent you are very concerned about fluoridation and fluoride exposure and you are keen that they get to hear your side of the story from scientific experts.

Bill and I will be looking for appointments between 12 and 3 pm on Tuesday April 24
All day Wednesday April 25.
All day Thursday April 26.
Friday morning up to noon.

Please do not finalize a time. If they are willing to meet with us, tell them I will get back with them to fix up a time. I will need their phone number (the aide will have a direct number) and/or their email address.
