Singers and Signers

FAN Bulletin 851

July 27, 2007

Dear All,

As of now we have achieved the magnificent total of 479 names on the Professionals’ statement calling for an end to water fluoridation! Just 21 shy of the “impossible” dream of 500 by midnight July 31.

There is still time for you to be part of this “impossible” dream. Simply locate one person with a PhD, MD, ND, DO, DC, DDS, DMD, BDS, RN, RDH, JD or equivalent, or an employee at a water utility or an officer in an environmental organization, and who is willing to sign. Please get them to email me at paul@AmericanHealthStudies.org with these details:

Name, Degree, Title or Position, Town, State.

But right now I would like to put a special emphasis on getting as many water department personnel to sign on as possible. We know from conversations with these folks that very many are opposed to this practice. Some are prepared to speak openly about their opposition, like the six who have already signed the statement. Some have even led the fight to get fluoridation stopped in their town. For example, Paul Slack from Maine and our (the village of Canton) former Water department head William Hamilton. For over 20 years Bill worked diligently behind the scenes to get each incoming mayor to end this practice.

So can you find a water department employee who is prepared to speak out on this and sign the Professionals’ statement? If so please forward their names to us as quickly as you can. Many, many thanks.

And now for something completely different…

Singers:

No matter how busy you are please take 4 minutes out of your day to watch and listen to this amazing video clip. Unless you are totally tone deaf or devoid of emotion, you will not regret this small investment of your time…My hunch is that you will forward it to your friends immediately. I did. [It also happens to feature what is probably the most beautiful piece of music ever written, judging by how it reaches in and grabs the very core of your being. ED]

The next singer is not quite in the same ball park as the last one, but he brings us back to our present task. If you haven’t heard Alex Wilson sing his anti-fluoridation song “Get it Out” now’s the time to do so and have a chuckle as well. Michael Connett (who has safely reached Montana in a his cross country bike trip) met Alex during the battle to stop fluoridation in Burlington, Vermont. They traveled down to Beacon, NY together and Alex sang the song to Pete Seeger (a signer of the Professionals’ statement). Shortly afterwards Alex traveled to the west coast and used this song to help the citizens of Bellingham, Washington defeat fluoridation there. In fact, they used a snippet of the song on radio spots. Dr. David Kennedy has also used Alex’s song on his DVD, which contains 4 videos: interviews with Chris Bryson, Hardy Limeback and Bill Hirzy as well as a video David shot in China on dental and skeletal fluorosis. If you haven’t got a copy of this DVD, simply send a check (made out to AEHSP) for $15.00, to 82 Judson Street, Canton, NY 13617 and I will send you one. Here’s Alex’s song.

toxicity in medical journals; owner of the www.fluoride-history.de website, Saarbruecken, Germany

“I am opposed to fluoridation because there is more valid scientific evidence for fluoride toxicity than for its alleged
caries-protective effect. The strange history of the measure (www.fluoride-history.de) is additional proof of this.”

Grace S. Prince, MS, RD, LDN, team research dietitian, head and neck study, Vanderbilt hospital, Nashville, TN
