The struggle is worth it

FAN Bulletin 906

December 20, 2007

Dear All,

There is enormous excitement among the members of the FAN team this morning. Yesterday, we had our best fundraising day so far. We raised nearly $2000 and raced from $3,585 to $5,470. With the $5000 matching grant that brings our grand total to $10,940. With five fundraising days to go, we are feeling very confident that we will reach our first mini-goal of $12,000 by Christmas Eve. However, we have now used up our matching grant and so its going to be a little tougher reaching our first target. This is where the smaller donations of $10 - $25 are going to add up.

So, if you are not among the 57 people who have contributed so far do please consider making a donation (large or small) to help our important work for 2008. Together we can end fluoridation once and for all.

It is easy and quick to do - just go to  www.FluorideALERT.org and click on the Donate link at the top of the page. Your donations are tax deductible (if you are a US citizen), because our parent organization the American Environmental Health Studies Project (AEHSP) has 5013C status.

Alternatively, you may simply write out a check to AEHSP and send it to AEHSP, 82 Judson Street, Canton, NY 13617. If you choose this way of donating please let us know with an email so that we can keep an accurate running total.

The pain

The story at watertechonline.com suggests that the companies which are selling water purification equipment are doing a booming business in Southern California, where the MWD has forced fluoridation onto another 18 million people. But removing fluoride from your own water supply is only a partial solution. In the seven and half years it took between finding out that our village of Canton, NY, fluoridated our water, and finally getting the village to stop, we were still exposed to fluoride every time we showered and bathed, and every time we had a cup of coffee, tea etc at work or down town. Moreover, Ellen is a very keen organic gardener and it worried us that we were sprinkling this stuff on our fruit and vegetables.

The joy

Once you have discovered the dangers posed by fluoride it is a sheer joy to be able to drink a glass of water from the tap without having to worry for yourself or for your children. We want to share that joy with others less fortunate than ourselves. Believe us, it is worth every second of the political struggle to get it out. Whether that struggle is to get the fluoride out locally – or worldwide.

Thank you all so much for the many very generous contributions to our effort to make the upcoming 2008 a breakthrough year – politically (remember we have already won the scientific battle!).
