FAN Bulletin 982
July 4, 2008
Dear Supporter,
Our apologies for disturbing our American readers on July 4, however we thought it was important to remind you that the deadline for the early bird registration fee for the Toronto conference is July 5 (midnight EST). So you have less than 36 hours to register and save $50.
The registration fee of $125 covers both the conference sponsored by the International Society for Fluoride Research (ISFR) August 7-10 and also the follow up conference organized by the Fluoride Action Network, August 10-11.
The FAN conference will allow attendees to meet up with the leading activists in Canada who are making great strides in ending this practice in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta. This meeting could put the finishing touches to ending this practice in Canada. You can be a part of this historical moment.
The ISFR conference, Fluoride’s Effects on Brain and Bone, will feature presentations from some of the world’s leading scientists on fluoride toxicity. The presenters include three members of the National Research Council committee who wrote the landmark 2006 report Fluoride in Drinking Water: A Scientific Review of EPA’s Standards. They are:
• Kathleen Thiessen, PhD, author of the report’s section on Effects on the Endocrine System.
• Bob Isaacson, PhD, author of the report’ section on Neurotoxicity and Neurobehavioral Effects.
• Dr. Hardy Limeback, PhD, DDS (Canada). Dr. Limeback is the Conference Organizer, and one of his presentations will be: Response to the 2006 NRC report by the dental profession and the current position of public health dentistry in North America.
Other conference presenters, but not all, include:
• AK Susheela, PhD (India), Director, Fluorosis Research and Rural Development Foundation. Dr. Susheela, who will give the Keynote Address, is one of the foremost leading authorities on fluoride’s toxicity to both the soft and hard tissues.
• C. Vyvyan Howard, MD, PhD (Northern Ireland), will present on “Fluoride’s Effect on the Brain.” Dr. Howard is President of the International Society of Doctors for the Environment
• Jennifer Luke, PhD, DDS (UK) is the researcher who discovered that fluoride accumulates in the pineal gland. Dr. Luke’s presentation: “Is the Pineal the Target of Fluoride Toxicity?”
See the Agenda, full details and ONLINE registration.
Both conferences will also allow you to hear the presentations, and meet, the three important dentists fighting in our corner: Dr. Hardy Limeback (Canada), Dr. Bill Osmunson (USA) and Dr. Andrew Harms (Australia).
We know we are asking a lot for people to find the resources to get to this conference but we can’t think of a better investment right now for those who want to get up to speed with the best scientific information on fluoride’s dangers and to meet in person - and work with - some of the best fluoridation fighters in the world. This could be the beginning of our greatest moment. Please come if you can.
Paul Connett
