Off to Toronto

FAN Bulletin 995

August 7, 2008

Dear Supporter,

In about an hour Ellen and I will be on our way to Toronto for our exciting triple event. We will be kicking off with a press conference at 2 pm today which will feature Dr. Vyvyan Howard who will be presenting a review of fluoride’s impact on the infant and fetal brain at all three events. See his 4 minute video at the top of FAN’s  home page http://www.FluorideAlert.org

Last night I saw a sneak preview of the videotape that Michael has been working on for several months. It lasts about 30 minutes and is a compilation of about a dozen professionals who present the case against fluoridation. This will be shown at the conference and then refined still further for wider distribution. Personally, I think Michael has done for our video clips (shot in the main by Kevin Hurley) what he had done previously with the health data base on fluoride. It will deal a heavy body blow to proponents who still try to claim that the those opposed to this practice lack credentials and credibility.

For those who want to review the 18 studies which show an association between fluoride and lowering IQ in children (some of them newly translated Chinese studies) you can do so by going to http://www.FluorideAlert.org/brain

The number of signers on the Professionals Statement calling for an end to fluoridation worldwide has risen to 1793. With a little luck we should reach 1800 sometime during the Toronto events.

Thank you very much to all of you who sent things in for the FAN FUN AUCTION. I am looking forward to that and also to our little ceremony where we award this year’s winner(s) of the Albert Burgstahler Scientific Integrity Award.

We will try to keep you posted with at least one bulletin during the triple event. Please keep your fingers crossed that we make a significant impact on the thinking on this practice in Toronto, Ontario and beyond. Proponents have played true to form and refused to participate in the forum on fluoridation on Monday afternoon. Despite all their confident pronouncements promoters of fluoridation in Canada could not field a single person from Health Canada, the Canadian Dental Association or the Ontario Dental Association to present their case. Such a failure will not sit well with many Canadians. In place of a debate we will be showing Dr. Peter Cooney’s presentation in Dryden, Ontario on April 1 and then we will get some of our distinguished guests to respond to his comments. If you wish to see this presentation you can watch it online at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4888471756915953833&hl=en

Meanwhile, some very good news. At considerable expense FAN has been able to retrieve the 4,000+ links to “Latest News” - one of most the popular links on our website at http://fluoride.ecobytes.net/.  This was nearly irretrievably lost when our web site went down several months ago.  It will be updated on a daily basis upon our return from Toronto.
