New Video: Fluoride Poisoning

FAN Bulletin 998

August 20, 2008

Dear Supporter,

Hopefully, you will receive this bulletin OK. A number of people did not receive the last one, FAN Bulletin 997: “New Video: Vyvyan Howard’s Toronto presentation.” If you did not receive this last bulletin please let us know. If you did, we would appreciate your comments on Vyvyan Howard’s presentation on fluoride and IQ on the evening of August 11 at the United Steelworkers’ Union Hall in Toronto.

A new video “Fluoride Poisoning: East meets West” also comes from the Toronto Triple event and features two presentations: one by Dr. Bruce Spittle from New Zealand and the other by Dr. A.K. Susheela from India. Both discuss the early symptoms of chronic fluoride poisoning of the soft tissues. These symptoms are very similar to those caused by many common diseases and complaints (e.g. stomach pains, constipation, nausea, headaches, nervousness, aching joints, excessive tiredness and rashes). The good news is that if the source of fluoride is removed the conditions quickly clear up. The bad news is that the vast majority of doctors in the world have no idea that such common complaints can be caused by something as simple as drinking fluoridated water and therefore prescribe a litany of drugs which do not cure the problem (only mask the symptoms) but come with their own battery of side effects.

New Video: Fluoride Poisoning: East meets West
Shot and edited August 2008; length, 59 minutes.

Part 1. The West. Dr. Bruce Spittle reviews the chronic fluoride poisoning syndrome (9 minutes)
Part 2. The East. Dr. A.K. Susheela describes the symptoms and treatment of patients suffering from fluoride poisoning of the soft tissues in India (50 minutes).

The neglect of this “chronic fluoride poisoning syndrome” - and the failure to teach anything about it at medical school and set up the machinery to test for fluoride in the blood and urine ? is one of sad outcomes of the politics of water fluoridation promotion. The need to protect this practice at all costs by both the medical and dental establishments has clearly interfered with basic medical science, and led to unnecessary suffering for many, many people. Diagnosis and treatment is relatively cheap, quick and simple.

Until someone in the West studies this issue scientifically we will not know just how many people are being impacted by chronic fluoride poisoning. In his book, “Fluoridation: The Freedom Fight” (1987), Dr. Hans Moolenburg cited his experience in the Netherlands (half of his patients came from fluoridated Amsterdam and the other half from unfluoridated Harlem) that up to 4% of the population experienced these fluoride caused symptoms. Unlike many of his colleagues he knew what to look for, because he had studied George Waldbott’s work. One of the things he found, that could be easily reversed by removing the fluoridated water, was colic in babies. This should not be surprising considering that when the fluoride ions reach the stomach they are converted to hydrofluoric acid (see the discussion below of fluoride’s interaction with the cells that make up the mucosa lining of the gastro-intestinal tract below).

Dr. Bruce Spittle has a written a short book about his experiences with this syndrome (for purchasing details please contact him at spittle@es.co.nz) and Dr. Susheela has spent 34 years researching this problem in India. She probably knows more about the toxic effects of fluoride than any other living person.

Sometimes on this video (and partly because the acoustics) it is not always easy to hear exactly what Dr. Susheela is saying, but her presentation is accompanied with an excellent set of slides which are easy to read and follow.

I would particularly draw your attention to one slide which shows electron microscope pictures of the mucosal lining of the gastro-intestinal tract. There are three pictures ? someone drinking low level of fluoride in water; someone drinking 1.2 ppm and another drinking 3 ppm. Two things are clearly visible. First, you see a deterioration of the goblet cells which produce the mucus which facilitates the movement of the feces through the tract. Interference here leads to constipation. Second, you see a loss of the microvilli which are so important in the uptake of nutrients. Dr. Susheela goes on to demonstrate how understanding this phenomena has helped to fight anemia in pregnant women and increase the birthweight of their babies.

Dr. Susheela explains that even though India has a program of giving pregnant women iron and folic acid tablets, the problem is that when they are suffering from excessive fluoride exposure (and it doesn’t have to be too excessive ?i.e. above 1 ppm in their drinking water) their damaged mucosal lining prevents them from absorbing these nutrients. By removing the source of fluoride, and providing the patients with a good diet comprising largely of fresh fruit and vegetables, she is able to lower their fluoride plasma and urine levels, increase their hemoglobin levels and produce babies in the normal bodyweight range.

I think when you watch this, you will be as amazed and excited as I was, to see how something as significant as low baby bodyweights in anemic women can be so easily and elegantly treated.

Please share this video with as many people as you know in the medical field ? they need to know about fluoride poisoning and the totally unnecessary suffering it causes.

Again, I welcome your feedback on this.
