FAN Bulletin 1035
January 10, 2009
Correction: in the last bulletin we gave the date for Kevin Hurley’s statement on the Burlington Board of Health vote as Jan 5, 2008. We hope that you all guessed that we meant Jan 5, 2009! Please make this change if you file copies of this bulletin.
The new FAN DVD: “Professional Perspectives on the Fluoridation Debate”
We know that many of you ? like us ? are anxiously waiting to receive and use the new FAN video, so here is an update.
On Jan 8, the day he returned to law school in Philadelphia, Michael Connett finished the editing of this 28 minute video. We have watched it and are very, very happy with it. The following experts address a series of 10 issues in the fluoridation debate:
Lord Earl Baldwin
Arvid Carlsson MD, PhD, Nobel Laureate
Bob Carton PhD
Sir Iain Chalmers MD
Paul Connett PhD
Brent Foster JD
Walter Graham, one of the leading and most successful opponents of fluoridation in Northern Ireland
Bill Hirzy PhD
Vyvyan Howard MD, PhD (President, International Society of Doctors for the Environment)
Robert Isaacson PhD (NRC review panel)
Tim Kropp PhD (toxicologist, formerly with EWG)
Hardy Limeback DDS, PhD (NRC review panel)
Phyllis Mullenix PhD
Bill Osmunson DDS, MPH
Kathleen Thiessen PhD (NRC review panel)
And please watch out for Don Smith’s cartoon on how fluoridation promoters see the human body!
Aside from the new 28 minute video, we have included all four FAN “Professional Perspectives” video vignettes (available online) featuring Bill Osmunson, Brent Foster; Vyvyan Howard and a panel discussing fluoride and kidney function.
It includes a feature which will allow any of the 10 sections on the 28 minute to be viewed separately. We are hoping this feature will be particularly useful for people wanting to use the tape at public meetings or public hearings.
The tape will be copied commercially, and after we have reviewed a proof copy (can take up to 10 days), and we have seen that it is free of glitches, it will be ready for mass production and distribution. We expect this process to take another 10 days.
Everyone who donated $100 or more will receive a copy of this video, as will those who took advantage of the special $50 offer at the end of December. If you have not done so already, a donation of $50 will secure you an advance copy of this DVD. Click here https://secure.groundspring.org/dn/index.php?aid=5061 to use our secure online server, or send a check, payable to FAN, to Connett, 82 Judson Street, Canton NY 13617.
Please be patient with us. FAN has put a lot of resources into this tape and we want to make it as useful and effective as possible. Once you have a copy of this DVD in hand you have our permission to use it any way, and anywhere, you like, with 2 exceptions: you cannot sell it or use parts of it without giving credit to FAN. We hope some will send it to their local Cable TV stations, which are obligated to air videos like this when requested. We will have an online Permission-to-use letter for these Cable stations. You may also make multiple copies for sending it to your friends and other contacts.
We are hoping that many of you will use this video to get more professionals to sign the Professionals’ Statement Calling for an End to Fluoridation (2,034 signers). In conjunction with that idea you will find a professionally designed layout of that statement accessible via our home page, go to http://www.FluorideAlert.org/professionals.statement.html — click on the symbol below the words PDF of statement.
Once the tape has been distributed to our donors it will then be available for a wider audience and orderable from our web site, as well as being made available via Google.
2006 was the year of the NRC report; 2007 was the year that the Professionals’ Statement was launched; 2008 was the year we began our Professional Perspective vignettes; and 2009 is the year when we hope that with your help ? and this splendid new DVD ? our campaign will really take off and we will get many more professionals and many others aware of this issue!
Paul Connett
