I think keeping score is a very Western thing to do. We like totals and targets and milestones. In cricket there is a world of difference between scoring 99 or 100 runs. 100 runs is a century! 99 is given no name. A century is memorialized in the record books, a 99 isn’t. Of course, someone may have seen that innings and might have declared it was one of the finest they had ever witnessed ?but for others it just didn’t make it. One shot short of glory is no glory at all.

So with that rambling preview, here is the news on some of the important numbers we are tracking.

1.  With the combined total of money received, and pledges made, we have reached our target of $40,000 in our fundraising effort. A huge thank you to the 350 people who made this possible. This total will cover the basic running expenses for the whole year, but we still have to fundraise separately for special projects.

2.  As of 10 am today a total of 944 people had voted UP on the fluoridation sites on the Obama-transition team website: http://citizensbriefingbook.change.gov/This gives us a total of 9440 points. It would be very nice to get another 56 votes and pass the 10,000 point mark! (See details on how to vote below).

3.  The number of people who have watched the 5 minute Osmunson video (the first in our series “Professional Perspectives on Fluoridation”) is 98,995. We are edging closer and closer to the magic 100,000 figure.  For those like me, who like to keep track of such things, there is one site for 7 of the videos posted by FAN on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/fluoridealert (see below)

4.  The number of signers on the Professionals’ Statement calling for an end to fluoridation worldwide now stands at 2,063. See http://www.FluorideAlert.org/professionals.statement.html We still need many more professionals signing this to really make a difference. Notice there is a professional quality pdf layout of this statement which some have used as a leaflet.

A big thank you to all those who have contributed to these numbers. Please keep the totals climbing. We need to get big numbers in every category to get into the record books. This is the ultimate entry we are looking for:  ”On (date) Water Fluoridation was Ended Worldwide!”

Click on any of these pictures and you will be able to watch a video. One longer video (Don’t Swallow Your Toothpaste) has been posted in three parts. Vote for action on fluoridation on the Citizen’s Briefing book for the Obama team

The site is still receiving votes, if you haven’t voted yet please do. Please get as many of your friends to do likewise. If you have email contact lists please circulate this message to them. The more “clicks” on VOTE UP we get the more notice we will gain for our issue. This is a rare opportunity to have our issue heard at the highest level of government.

4) Then go the section titled “Stop Water fluoridation” and click on VOTE UP
