FAN Bulletin 2008

Someone in Australia said recently that there are two sides to the fluoridation debate: one side has read the literature, the other side hasn’t!
However, whatever the promoters lack in knowledge and integrity they make up in naked power. So they push on relentlessly to fluoridate every community they can get their grubby hands on.
1) Town after town in Australia is being fluoridated (news today that fluoridation has just started in Cairns) - but Mildura (the little city that roared) hangs on.
2) Strategic Health Authorities (SHA) throughout the UK are eagerly waiting a decision from a law judge in Southampton ratifying the decision by the SHA to push ahead with fluoridation there even though 72% of the citizens said NO. Will this law judge stand up again the British dental and medical establishments?
3) A little good news from New Jersey where two dentists in the legislature have expressed their concerns. One is against forcing fluoridation on people and the other is worried about the costs with the current budget constraints. See the artlce in the Philadelphia Enquirer at http://www2.fluoridealert.org/Alert/United-States/New-Jersey/Roadblock-in-effort-to-fluoridate-N.J.-Water
4) There are rumblings of an effort to introduce mandatory fluoridation in Ontario, Canada and -
5) Still no word from Joe Gormley, the head of the Green party, and current Minister of the Environment in Ireland, on his promise that if the Greens got into government they would call for an end of fluoridation. (See http://www2.fluoridealert.org/Alert/Ireland/Greens-pledge-to-end-fluoridation)
If the previous years have been tough, next year promises to be even tougher. We are going to do everything we can to reverse this silly nonsense, but we are going to need your help to do it. That effort takes money. Please take a little time out of your holiday schedule and send us any contribution you can afford.
So far we have raised $15,966 from 115 donors. Our goal by midnight Dec 31 is $50,000. We have a very long way to go. At this point every donation - large or small - is worth its weight in gold. Please help.
Some good news. Our “angel” has stepped in once again and offered a very generous challenge pledge of $1000 if we can raise another $1000 by Dec 26 midnight. So any contribution you send right now is worth double.
