A Conference for those who will never give up!

FAN Bulletin 2019

June 30, 2010

Before we get to the update on FAN’s conference:

Mercola.com: If you missed Dr. Joe Mercola’s commentary on his interview with me (plus the accompanying video), you can access it here. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/07/03/paul-connett-interview.aspx (please post this link on your website or facebook - wherever you can). The very exciting and good news is that Mercola is committed to stopping fluoridation and helping activists in their campaigns. See entire video interview or read the transcript (pdf) at http://mercola.fileburst.com/PDF/ExpertInterviewTranscripts/InterviewPaulConnett.pdf

The 4th Citizens Conference on Fluoride: ORGANIZING TO WIN. What Works - What Doesn’t!
July 23-27, Canton, New York. For details see http://fluoridealert.org/conference.2010.html

One of the attendees at the Conference is Rae Nadler-Olenick from Austin, Texas. She explained to me that they have experienced a major setback in their efforts to get fluoride out of their city but her group is in it for the long haul. “We are bulldogs” she said. “We will never give up because we know that we are right.”

She will be joined by others who will never give up and they too will be sharing their “bulldogeddness” with us. These include:

Bill Osmunson, DDS, MPH, who will give the keynote address on his long search for who actually has legal responsibility for fluoridation in Washington State. FAN’s short video interview with Bill has now received over 213,300 “hits” on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ys9q1cvKGk

Henry Lickers, Director, Department of the Environment of the Mohawks’ Council of Akwesasne, will give the opening and closing Mohawk prayers and share with us the toll that fluoride pollution has taken on his nation.

Robert Fleming, Diane Sprules, and Aliss Terpstra will update us on the state of the vigorous battle to rid Ontario, Canada, of water fluoridation.

Gilles Parent from Quebec, Canada, will share with us how he and his colleagues have helped to end fluoridation in virtually all of Quebec.

Cathy Justus from Pagosa Springs CO, who has vowed never to let her horses (poisoned by fluoridated water) to have died in vain, will also be there.

Mike Ewall from Philadelphia PA, will explain how he and his group have been able to stop mandatory fluoridation in Pennsylvania, not just once but several times.

Jack Cook and Kate Chadwick will be driving up all the way from Nashville, TN. Jack will tell us the about the runaround he has fighting fluoridation in Nashville and Kate with share with us ways to approach the media on this issue. Jack and Kate will also be interviewing attendees for a video entitled “Citizens’ Perpectives on Water Fluoridation.”

Jeanette Bajorek will tell us about what one person can do to fight the battle in Sacramento, CA.

Bernie Miltenberger will show us a short film he shot in a local fluoridating waterworks in Maryland and tell us what else he has done to put pressure on local politicians in his state.

Mike and Sona Dolan will tell us about the archives set up at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst to receive important documents and other materials from the anti-fluoridation movement. He has already received the bulk of the papers and other documents from John Yiamouyiannis estate, as well as those of Dr. Ionel Rapoport and others.

Kevin Hurley will show us excerpts from a new fluoride documentary he has been working on for over a year.

And we also have short video clips from some people who have been very involved in this issue but were unable to get to the conference in person. This includes video messages from activists in Australia, and New Zealand. They will be explaining some of the campaign developments in their countries.

We would like more bulldogs to come - people who are in this for the long haul - who want to Organize to Win - but we have just about used up the $5,000 budget from Carol Patton’s Fluoride Memorial Fund set aside for this purpose. So now we are looking for donations or Frequent Flyer miles to get more bulldogs here. If you have a group could you pull together resources and get one person here (nearest airports: Syracuse NY or Ogdensburg NY). Any contribution large or small could make a difference. Remember we need to pull together more statewide organizations to fight possible efforts to introduce mandatory statewide fluoridation bills (as will be occurring again and again in NJ, Oregon and Pennsylvania) and we need some good organizers to coordinate the offers of help that are likely to flow from Dr. Joe Mercola’s efforts (see the item above).

In addition to the work there will be plenty of time for fun in the evening on the beautiful campus of St. Lawrence University. On Monday - for those who can stay beyond the weekend - there will be a 2 1/4 hour boat trip around the beautiful Thousand Islands (in the St. Lawrence River) which will allow more time for lots of talk on tactics and strategy or simply time to relax and enjoy the beauty of the river and the islands.
